Trades Programs

School District No. 42 and various post secondary institutions and trades training organizations have joined together to offer apprenticeship training programs for Grade 10, 11 and 12 students and adult learners.

Students going into Grade 12 now have the option to graduate PLUS get first year post-secondary certification and apprenticeship training in one year and with no tuition fees.

Mike Rowe, widely-known from the hit TV show “Dirty Jobs” and a series of Ford commercials, appeared on The Glenn Beck Program Wednesday to discuss his efforts with the mikeroweWORKS Foundation in challenging “the absurd belief that a four-year degree is the only path to success.”

“We’re lending money we don’t have, to kids who will never be able to pay it back, for jobs that no longer exist,” he explained. “That’s crazy, right? That’s what we’ve been doing for the last forty years.”  Check out this video link…



Secondary School Apprentices

If you are in Gr. 10-12 and you have a paid job in a trade, please advise the Career Centre asap!  You could be eligible for SSA credits and a $1000 scholarship!
